In this project we talk about the abstract, the non-objective and the non-figurative, but of course all this is about a human, about the human’s current state and about their optics.
The history of art is inextricably linked with history and at important historical moments abstract art came to the aid of the human psyche.
We make out images now much faster than before, the speed of incoming information trains us, yet at the same time always strives to mix reality and non-reality into one stream.
In this mosaic of images, we change our attitude to the known depending on the context in which we find ourselves, acquiring an infinite number of "fields of options".
In the course of our pictorial dialogue, the influence of our original works intensifies and transforms the previously deciphered objects and images into something new, not yet named.
It is important that we chose these two media, digital video and the classic form of canvas-paint, since the digital stream, which is a marker of our time, carrying and transforming information presented as images, leaves only the brightest imprints both on canvases and in our consciousness.
The progress that took place in the twentieth century in all spheres of life has moved to another plane in our time, changing our everyday life to a lesser extent, and to a greater extent self-determination in society, giving us an opportunity for a mask, an opportunity to live several lives at once or to be in several layers.
These layers are masks enhancing digital noise, and they augment the blurring of the border of corporeality, while attempts to renounce the latter, in turn, lead one to abstraction, non-objectivity and the non-figurative.
For me, this is a continuation of the study of the new –– digital –– time, which began in 2019. The "After" project was a project where I began to consider changes in the new landscape, since the "machine" vision, penetrating into everyday life, changes the optics of all living things and determines the vector for many decades to come.
The project was created to study the balance between the physical and the digital, the real and the ephemeral.
In essence, this is a new version of seeing the material world, where the flow of form is not an exceptional phenomenon, but an ordinary component. The form freezes in a set of images, and then I go on to develop it through pictorial images. In parallel with this, I fill the resulting images with hints of objects that I see in everyday life, experiencing, like a neural network, apophenia –– recognition of another object in the image.
The project is an attempt to comprehend digital technologies and their aesthetics in our everyday life, to visualize the existence of a world that has not yet been recognized and comprehended, and of the thinking that exists in accordance with its own canons and laws, not associated with the feeling of the "alive".
